THE STORY BEHIND THE PLACE
History & heritage
Christian Wölffer founded the estate in 1988. The Sagaponack vineyard grew from a 14-acre beginning into a larger vineyard-and-horse-farm property; its official history identifies 55 acres of sustainably farmed estate vines. Roman Roth joined as winemaker in 1992.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The vineyard experience
Wölffer’s Sagaponack tasting room sits above the surrounding vines, combining a rustic-modern interior with vineyard views. The official visitor page describes educational vineyard and winery tours. The estate’s visitor arrangements should be checked separately from other Wölffer locations and experiences.
THE WINES
A sense of their style
Estate plantings include Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, with smaller lots of Trebbiano, Pinot Noir and Vignole. The broader portfolio includes rosé, whites, reds, sparkling wines and alcohol-removed styles; not every wine comes from the Sagaponack estate.
Styles describe the producer’s range, not a live tasting menu or inventory. Offerings change by vintage and season.
FOOD & THE TABLE
